Rachel's Story: Finding Love After Divorce as a Single Mom

Rachel Graham

A serial entrepreneur who'd built success in every other area of her life, Rachel found that dating after divorce was the one thing she couldn't figure out on her own. Rachel came to Smart Dating Academy after a painful divorce and six years as a single mom. She'd done a lot of work on herself, but the thought of entering the dating world — especially online dating and putting herself out there — was scary. She'd been successful in every other aspect of her life, and she knew that having a real plan would make all the difference.

Rachel's dating coach worked with her to determine her High GHQ (Good Husband Quality) guy, taught her the red flags that would come up during the process, and helped her pace her dating funnel across all her options. They took her photos, wrote her profile, and coached her through the process.

It took time, as all good things do, and she found her amazing "Fly Guy" — a pilot she met on an online dating site. They took it slow and steady and became wonderful partners to each other. She couldn't be happier.

DRAMA TRIANGLE VS. EMPOWERMENT DYNAMIC

On the podcast, Rachel also opened up about the Karpman Drama Triangle and how old traumas can keep us mired in the same relationship patterns — playing victim, persecutor, and rescuer, sometimes all in the same day with the same person. She now teaches a better framework called The Empowerment Dynamic, where we shift from Victim to Creator, from Persecutor to Challenger, and from Rescuer to Coach — helping loved ones find their own solutions instead of just fixing things for them.
